Online Blackjack Guide and Details

Whether you are playing at a land based casino or at an online casino, the most popular of all card games is generally blackjack. There are several different varieties, but the rules are basically the same. You can visit an online casino and play up to as many as five hands at a time with ‘Multi-Hand Blackjack’, or you can just keep it simple and stick to Single Hand Blackjack.

The great thing about this game is that it shouldn’t take you long to learn because the rules are simple, plus it should also be available in the free play mode, so until you have learned the rules it would be a good idea to play in the free play mode. A detailed description of how to play Blackjack should always be readily available when playing online.

The main objective when playing blackjack is for the total value of your cards to be as close to 21 as possible, and preferably closer to 21 than the dealers hand. In all blackjack variations, an Ace is worth either 1 point or 11 points and each number card is worth its face value while the Jack, Queen and King are all worth 10 points.

The best hand is known as a ‘natural blackjack’ and this can be achieved with the first two cards that you are dealt. This is possible if you are dealt a card which is worth ten points and an Ace (10+11=21). Most casinos will then pay 1.5X times your original stake. So if you place a $/€/£5.00 bet and then receive a natural blackjack, you will be paid a total of $/€/£12.50.

If the dealer happens to deal himself a similar two-card hand which also adds up to 21 points, the game will result in a tie and you will receive your stake back.

If either the player or the dealer exceeds 21 points, he or she will lose. This is called going ‘bust’. Remember that Blackjack (any 10 with an Ace), beats a score of 21. Also, the dealer is generally forced to draw until 17, which means that if he reaches 17 points, he must ‘Stand’, therefore he cannot try to improve his hand anymore.
